Climate Today
Pompeii is located on the western coast of Italy, near a large city called Naples, and in the Campania region.
The climate in Pompeii is very mild, and has weather typical of a Mediterranean city. In the springtime, Pompeii is a beautiful place, with weather averaging between 60 and 70 degrees. This is the best time to visit Pompeii, as the weather is good for viewing outdoors ruins, and there are fewer tourists. In the summer, however, the weather begins to heat up, averaging between 80 and 90 degrees. This is also the time when most tourists visit, and the crowds are terrible. Fall is the rainy season for Pompeii, and signals the end of the tourist season. Despite this, it is still rather hot, the temperature ranging from 70 to 80 degrees. By winter the rain has mostly stopped, however there is an increase in wind coming in from the coast, and the average temperature drops to around 50 degrees. There are barely any tourists visiting in the winter, but there might be deals on lodging and food. |
