Most people have heard of Pompeii; it's almost impossible to get away from all of the movies and museums and stories it has been incorporated into. However, many people's knowledge of Pompeii is limited to the fact that it was Roman and was destroyed by a volcano. They fail to see that one of the greatest things about Pompeii was the way it was preserved, giving archaeologists and history enthusiasts a window into Roman cultures, agriculture and architecture, among other things. Throughout this website spotlights will be shined on certain aspects of Pompeian culture, but please be aware that there is much more to be learned about Pompeii than what a single website can teach.
